The Cardinal-electors have asked all people of good will to join them in daily prayer as they prepare to enter the conclave. They are deeply aware of the weight of their responsibility and desire to be spiritually ready to discern and call forth the next Holy Father to serve the Universal Church.
Below is a prayer you may use to support them in this sacred task and to intercede for the one who will be chosen to carry this great responsibility.
Prayer for the Election of a Pope
O God, eternal shepherd,
who govern your flock with unfailing care,
grant in your boundless fatherly love
a pastor for your Church
who will please you by his holiness
and to us show watchful care.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
