On Monday, April 21st, we received the news of Pope Francis’ death with profound sorrow. On Easter Sunday, we witnessed the Holy Father summon all his remaining strength to give the Urbi et Orbi blessing and to ride through St. Peter’s Square in the popemobile—granting us a final, powerful image of him leading us, as our shepherd, in commemorating the most important moment of our faith: the Resurrection of Our Lord.
Now, we entrust our beloved Holy Father to the mercy of God, praying that the Lord opens to him the gates of heaven, where he may receive the reward of his labors.
With the conclusion of the funerary rites, the Church enters the traditional
Novemdiales—a nine-day period of mourning and prayer. During this sacred time, we lift up prayers for Pope Francis, his family, his closest collaborators, and all who grieve his passing.
As a parish community, we will honor his memory with a Memorial Mass on
Thursday, May 1st at 6:00 pm in the Church. All are welcome to join us in this time of prayer and remembrance.
