The National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus voted on Tuesday, July 24, 1990 to designate November as Black Catholic History Month. For the last thirty-three years, the Church in the United States has used this month to highlight the contributions of Black Catholics to the life and vitality of the Church. Locally, celebrations focus on the gift and legacy of Black Catholic spirituality, song, leadership, and vocations. This year as a parish we want to focus on educating ourselves about the gifts our community offers to the Archdiocese and the Church Universal. We will ask a question in the Goretti Notes and you can go to the parish Facebook or Instagram to record your answer.
This is a great thing to do as a family to bring our faith into the home.
Question 1: Can you name one of the Black Catholics currently on the Road to Sainthood and tell us something about them? (Hint: There are six of them)
